Zeljko Kalac’s Rough Day

By: chris | August 4th, 2008

Conceding five goals is rough, real rough. Whiffing on the ball that winds up as the sitter for the third is downright brutal, particularly when the game was televised for our enjoyment. But it’s the death knell when you’ve dropped this little nugget to the press just days earlier:

“Concerning the role of the keeper, I think that at Milan there are no problems. I have never seen three goalkeepers of this quality in one squad.”

Sure, Z…so who wants to bet in about 2 weeks Milan announces they’ve signed a new keeper?

everyone has a bad day. Kalac has been absolutely phenomenal being thrown out there off the bench and becoming our starting keeper.
Although I wouldn’t mind seeing a new perminant keeper..

Kalac is horrible. I remember at the 2006 world cup he made such horrible mistakes against Croatia!!!

I think maybe it’s time he unsubscribed from Paul Robinson’s training podcast.

The one in which Kalac couldn’t connect with a back pass and allowed Anelka to tap-in was a terrible mistake. Unforgivable maybe, as we may find out soon.

I actually fell out of my computer chair when this happened during the game . It was just too unexpected and hysterical. Kalac is truly awful.

I dont see how you can call Kalac horrible. You clearly did not see any of his last season, which was awesome.

Mele, he did make one or two howlers. Not world-class at all. You don’t need a new keeper though, Abbiati is very solid.

Was that the same crap keeper who almost single handedly cost Austraila a spot in the round of 16 in the comedy classic WC06 2-2 AUS-CRO match?
