Zidane & Materazzi Not Happy After All

Admit it: you knew it wasn’t true.

The reports that Zidane and Materazzi kissed and made up seemed…made up. The narrative is too strong and swimming against this current would take the work of multiple saints and several acts of God. (Plus considering the source, Marca, it’s no surprise)

Materazzi has since publicly denied the supposed “embrace”, with an announcement forthcoming on Zizou’s official website that a) nothing happens, and b) one day, yes, he is still going to skewer Marco and serve him at a buffet.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Zidane will now deny making up with Materazzi, intimating that he thought the latter was a fan and didn’t recognise him.

A statement is expected to be released on Zidane’s official website at some point later today.

Materazzi has since said: “There certainly wasn’t any embrace with Zidane.”

The “fan” bit could be considered a slight, but Materazzi’s been a spectator for a few years now, so it’s not too far from the truth – he hasn’t exactly followed the Zizou method of leaving one’s career with a sonic boom.

These two are destined to publicly spat for the next 30 years until unforeseen circumstances place them together in an old age facility in which they are forced to confront each other in a daily basis, with cameras planted all over it for our comedic benefit. And then at the end their will be a touching montage where they finally become friends, with lots of looking out windows from both and a soft piano soundtrack. With hate this strong, it must be love.

(This isn’t only already a movie, but likely several movies. No matter.)
