Zinedine Zidane vs Daniel Carter

By: Daryl | September 8th, 2007

Zinedine Zidane met with New Zealand’s World Cup bound rugby team this week, and challenged Daniel Carter to a kicking contest. Zizou didn’t beat Carter, but apparently the All Blacks were impressed with Frenchman’s technique. Special skills coch Mick Byrne described him as a “natural” who quickly grasped the different technique involved in kicking a rugby ball. Maybe Zidane could come out of international retirement and kick for France at the World Cup?

There’s actually a whole host of Zidane rugby clips available via YouTube, with a couple of my favourites below.

  • This was in Marseille. There are some hialrious commercials of him playing Rugby these days.

Couldn't hurt. Zidane could miss two penalties at least as well as the French did in their loss to Argentina, and the way the All Blacks have started, France will need the help.
